The Mental Health Program at Clinica Tepeyac offers culturally competent bilingual services for the underserved and uninsured in our community. The clinic is able to offer counseling services on a pro bono basis with the help of volunteers from Mental Health America of Colorado and other counselors from the community. The clinic has psychotherapists who volunteer their time each week; and master and doctoral level interns who offer counseling and psychological services as part of their practicum.
In February of 2010, supported by a grant from the Colorado Health Foundation, the Clinic hired their first full-time bilingual therapist who functions as the mental health program director and bilingual counselor. The goal of the program is to offer ongoing support and culturally competent services, with appropriate approaches, to individuals and families who struggle with depression and other mental health related issues. As a bilingual therapist, and the clinic’s first dedicated mental health staff member, the mental health director adds to the unique bond that the uninsured have with the award-winning and culturally innovative health clinic. Treatment is provided with respect, integrity and professionalism and provides long term benefits for individuals and families.
